Well, it is done. Last Tuesday was the final class in my chase of an MBA. Officially it is not conferred until April, but I am confident nothing will get in the way of that. As this had been a classroom program, Tuesday evenings and an occassional Saturday, I was with the same people from the beginning. We started as a cohort 27 months ago and although there were one or two casualties early on 14 of us made the finish line. The conclusion was bittersweet. It is good to have reached the goal; I will miss seeing my classmates once a week. You get to know each other in a setting like this. We were teamed together at the beginning in an almost arbitrary fashion. From time to time, depending on the class and instructor, the teams were disrupted but reformed with the next opportunity. Some disruptions were permanent but all in all it worked.
Some members of the class are more than elated it is done, and for them the experience over the last two years was a chore towards a goal of obtaining a piece of paper. For others, myself included, it was something else. A challenge certainly, but also something to be savored, experienced, and immersed within. For some there is nothing more now to do, for others it means we have embarked on a commitment to continual learning. It is not anything that has to be done it is something that needs to be done.
